Ladies Self Defence Course.
OKKO Karate Jutsu will be starting it`s new Ladies only club every wednesday from 7.30 - 8.30pm at the Stoke Prior First School, due to the high volume of requests from ladies and mothers, ive decided to run a more permanent club, there will be no unifoms and no Grading belts, instead the ladies only club will deal with Self Defence, and fitness such as Boxercise and Kick Fit, every week from Wednesday the 30th of April,
The cost of these sessions are £7.00 and may run over the hour slot, the Self Defence will be run in parts which are 10 weeks training for part one, a further 10 weeks training for part 2, on completing part 2 all ladies will be presented with the OKKO Karate Jutsu Level one self defence certificate.
Limited places now available, so please book early to avoid disapointment.
What to wear? Jeans or Jogging bottoms and either a sweatshirt or a t-shirt, please ensure all trainers have flat gripped soles, as anything else may rip the saftey mats,
What should we bring with us? Plenty of fluids, as you will get thirsty, maybe a towel (depending on how much you sweat), and yourselves and preferably a partner.
What will the sessions cover? Our self defence is structured around, getting away from a physical situation without physical harm to yourself, Typical lessons will cover Personal Awareness, what to look for, when and where to avoid places, parking your vehicle at night, walking home alone at night, Anti Mugging, Also the ladies will learn how to use the Mobile Phone as a weapon of self defence,
What standard of fitness is required? None at all, i promise not to ask the ladies to do Press ups, or running about, during the normal sessions we will only concentrate on self defence, this may include the ladies punching, slapping kneeing or kicking a Kickshield or focus pads, Fitness will come as each lady progresses, there will also be a session twice a month for the ladies to stay behind after the Self defence session, to complete a kick fit/ Boxercise session this will last for an hour, if the ladies who stay have already completed the normal lesson then the price will be just an extra £2.00 on top of the lesson charge, however if ladies come to this session and do not attend the Ladies only club them the cost of this session will be £5.50 payable before the session starts.
Any further questions? then please ask by sending an E-Mail to okkokarate@hotmail.co.uk

DOJO RULES
Lesson one = All students are expected to observe and stick by the Rules and traditions set forth by OKKO Karate Jutsu.
Lesson Two = First learn lesson One
Quoted " Mr Miyagi to Daniel San Karate Kid Part 2"
Clever and very wise Quote this one, and probably one of my favourites, This is basically telling us to always remember the Rules in your Dojo, If you have no respect for your instructor "You must leave the club" i would never want a student in my Organisation who had little or no respect for me, Themselves or others.
Dojo Maxims (Rules)
Reigi o omonji
Have respect and courtesy for everything/everyone
Shinkenmi ni teshi
Be serious in everything you do
Shinshin o kitae waza o neri
Work hard mentally and physically and repeat techniques again and again
Jinkaku kansei ni tsutome
Strive to become a better person
Wa no michi o kiwameyo
Find peace and harmony within your life
ojitsu Ni Oberesu
Students and instructors are not all one, never take advantage of their friendship.
On Entering the Dojo ALL students Must
(Bow)
On exiting the Dojo ALL students Must
(Bow)
The reason for the Bow is a traditional Respect offered to the Instructor, The Other students and also the Dojo, no matter which Dojo you belong to, it is always neccassary for a student of the Martial Arts to Bow, this shows respect not only for the Martial Art but also for the Past Martial Masters for there dedicated service to the Martial Arts.
All Lesson start and end in Respect, This is why we all Bow.
Rules of performing kata
When starting kata, all students must stand with there feet together and hands by there sides, Bow and state the kata in which they will be performing, they must then wait for hadjime or Begin.
The next step is to go into yohi or ready stance, and begin the kata.
Please remember Kata does not look pleasing to the eye when it is rushed through, Take your time, Breath, and think about the hard and soft techniques, for example, if a punch is the next technique then you should deliver the punch with power, if a Kiai is required Please do not shout Kiai, exhale and create a Kiai or karate Shout from the pit of your stomach.
Once the kata kas been performed, stay perfectly still and await the Yame, or stop, on the Yame being called do not relax until you have been told to do so, Kata is at its best when done sharply, powerfully, and most importantly correctly.
